“The number one problem in today’s generation & economy is the lack of financial literacy.” – Alan Greenspan

When a former Chair of the most influential central bank names financial illiteracy as the main problem facing both the economy & this generation, it is because he has seen the uncomfortable consequences up close.

Yet too often, we minimise this issue, projecting it onto others while overlooking our own gaps in understanding.

In Zimbabwe, participation in the capital markets is still around 2%, compared to roughly 13% in South Africa. The numbers reflect a much deeper challenge, that goes beyond access & into mindset, trust & long-term financial education.

It is worth taking a moment to reflect on the broader impact of our actions, not just for ourselves, but for the generation that comes after us.
